We are a research group deeply rooted in the study
of fluorinated organic compounds.

Why fluorine, of all atoms?
Easy. Fluorine has become vital to the development of
drugs, agrochemical agents and advanced materials.

What is the problem, then?
Greener and overall better chemical processes are needed to prepare organofluorine compounds or exploit them as synthetic intermediates.

How does the Hamel group contribute to this?
Our mission is to leverage catalysis as a strategic tool for the preparation and derivatization of organofluorine compounds through chemo-, regio- and enantioselective C–H, C–C and C–F bond scission.
Now recruiting!
